What is RAWsome Yoga?

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”
― C.G. Jung

The adventure of launching RAWsome Yoga has begun, and for many of my students this feels like a long time coming; for me, this mixed feeling of excitement and apprehension has led me to ask the question "when will I be ready?".

I feel that a lot of our time is spent asking ourselves that very question... "When will I  be ready to attempt forearm stand?  When will I feel ready to change jobs? When will I be ready to start a family?" ..... Well when are we ever truly ready to do anything? In my brief experience on this planet I have found that the majority of life's most magical moments have happened when I wasn't as prepared as I would have wanted to be!

As kids we get fixated on this idea of readiness starting with our size and our age... being "ready" to ride the roller coaster, standing on our tippy toes just trying to lift up one more inch to go on the BIG kid ride. Or, how many of us have heard a parent or older sibling say "you're too young". We imprint this false idea that there is an exact right time and place for us to arrive at called READY, and this falsity truly sets us up for a life of fear and resistance that carries well into our adult hood; only instead of roller coasters to ride, its our own lives.

RAWsome Yoga is my attempt to break that fear and let in the light of the universe. I don't feel ready, but that doesn't mean I can't do this! My apprehension comes from exposure; putting myself out there for the world to see....and potentially judge. I have no problem speaking in my classes mainly because I trust my students and I know that when I say something it may not stick, or won't be remembered verbatim. Written text is an entirely new adventure for me, where people can read and then re-read my thoughts, the pieces of my heart. But THAT is exactly what RAWSOME YOGA is all about. . . breaking through fear and being unapologetically  YOURSELF!

RAWsome Yoga is about authenticity, honoring our truest self (the positive aspects we love to share, and the not so pretty ones we try to hide or cover up). No more coverups, no more masks, no more apologizing for our emotions, or putting ourselves down. Being RAWsome is about celebrating the multifaceted self; creating space for love, presence, fun, transitions, and community.

Im tired of apologizing for my emotions and hearing others do the same. If I'm sad, why should I apologize to someone for it? They have felt sadness! So why should we feel as if we must always put our happiest selves forward? Maybe by accepting all the shades of ourselves we will begin to HEAL. And when we heal we open ourselves up to LOVE. And when we allow love into ourselves we GROW.

So there it is. . . RAWsome YOGA: heal. love. grow.

Are you "ready" for whats to come? ..... because the roller coaster has already begun!
