RAWsome Mind: You Are More Than Your Pain

You are more than your pain. It is not a demon that hunts you down nor an emotion that defines you. Pain lives in an instant but stays when invited to come inside your mind and take a seat. Pain is easy, healing is hard.

A deeply rooted component of healing is acknowledging the pain you have experienced. To shed light on the demons of your past so that you can see them as they are....not what we remember them to be. Through this magical action your pain transforms itself into your greatest strength. It becomes your teacher, your connection to others and to the layers of yourself.

But it's easy to find friendship with pain. It tantalizes you with its familiarity. It captures your thoughts with surges of strong chemicals. It fills your eyes with a clouded view of the world and the people in it. Caution to those who decide to live with pain without the healing; eventually it feels as if there is no other way of existing without the pain pressing upon your heart, cutting you deeply with every breath you take.

You can sweetly drown in pain. You can compulsively consume sympathy. You can trick yourself into thinking the sun will never rise again. Pain can become your world when it takes the wheel. But you are not your pain and the sun will rise again...for you carry the dawn within you.
